Minutes of the Fall 2003 Ski Coaches Meeting
Eaglebrook School, Monday, October 27, 2003

1) Convened 7:15 p.m.

2) Introductions

3) Review teams in the league

• SBS will not participate this year.
  
• Chris Loftus will approach the Franklin County AD's to see if any are interested in joining our league
  
• Does Wilbraham still have an interest?
  
• Coaches will notify Marc Dancer by December 15, 2003 with their team divisions
  

4) Treasurer's Report

• Dues to remain at $100 if possible
  
• If the number of participating teams is too low, then we will raise the dues
  

5) Race Dates

• All races at Berkshire East except 2/25 at Eaglebrook School

6) Scoring

• Reviewed team and individual scoring in the league (best 5 out of 6 for both).
  
• In the event of a cancellation, the race series will count all 5 races and best 4 out of 5 for individual
  
• Motion to change the team scoring of the JV/JR race to counting the top 5 of 7 racers (still best time) carried by a 6-0 vote.
  

7) Race Day Procedures

• Course Maintenance - Coaches need to attend to the course whenever possible
  
• Report 1st run DQ's in a timely fashion
  
• Coaches need to impress upon their racers the need for the top seeds to slip the course after their run
  
• No free skiing on the trail during the race
  
• Students need to learn that they are part of the entire process that helps a race run smoothly.
  

8) Duty Assignments

• Coaches meeting before each race helped in the running of the race
  
• JV/JR Head Gatekeeper - Nancy Henderson (Charlemont) ???
  
• Greg Leeds will produce the duty assignments for 2004
  
• Considered having a school assigned a post for the entire season, i.e. EBS assistant starter
