Minutes of the Spring 2004 Ski Coaches Meeting

1) Convened 7:00 p.m.

2) Introductions

3) Proposed Race Dates

• All races at Berkshire East

4) Scoring Procedure when Teams are Absent

• Discussion regarding Team Points awarded based on the number of teams present
• Decided not to change Team Points scoring

5) Overtaking Racer in Course

• Not really a timing problem any more
• Racers have a right to complete the course (provided they have not lost a ski)
• This would be a by-law change

6) Missed/Late Start Policy

• Should it be a DQ?
• Provisional re-run
  • End of seed Right away
  • End of race
  • End of division (gender)?
• Valid reason for missed start
  • Lift problems
  • Equipment malfunction
  • Present in start area but unaware of Assistant Starter
  • Present, and Assistant Starter knows they are there, but still misses start
• Rather than becoming a set of rules, the above are guidelines for the Assistant Starter

7) Brief Report from the Treasurer

• Berkshire East fees were $2800
• If there is a decrease in the number of teams then dues will have to increase

8) Misc.

• Should schools joining the league meet certain residence criteria?
• Fall coaches meeting, Monday, October 25 at 7:00 PM

Note: The minutes may not wholly reflect the healthy and good-spirited discussion amongst the coaches. It is clear that the league is comprised of dedicated coaches that truly have the student-athlete's best interests at heart.
